PATIENT CARE- is a series of two courses, Patient Care I & Patient Care II, offered to students who are interested in pursuing a career in the healthcare industry. With the transition to pathways and courses, the Patient Care Program course of study is based upon the Ohio Department of Education’s (ODE) 2013 Health Science Standards, more specifically the Health Science Career Field Courses of Patient Centered Care, Medical Terminology, Principles of Allied Health, and Lifespan Development & Medical Intervention; in addition to the standards for the various certifications- STNA, Phlebotomy Technician, EKG Technician, OSHA and AHA First Aid & CPR. These standards integrate common healthcare related principles into the curriculum while exploring components of various health career occupations. In addition to the classroom and laboratory components both Patient Care I & II offer a clinical experience that offers real world application. Ultimately, the goal of the Patient Care Program is to prepare students for entry level healthcare jobs and/ or act as a stepping-stone for further education in a healthcare related field.
