Heggerty Refresher

Description:

This PD is for teachers Pre-K through grade 4. Teachers will gain an understanding of the Heggerty Curriculum, which provides fidelity with implementation of phonemic awareness skills, into daily literacy lessons cutting across all 3 tiers of instruction: Tier I, Tier II, or Tier III. Participants must bring their Heggerty books when attending the training. Training will be held in the LaCroft Library.

Advance Phonics Professional Development Using Multisyllable Routine Cards
Instructor: Lorie. Lubman
Description:

PD Goals: The Multisyllable Routine Cards provide direct and explicit instruction on how to apply knowledge and syllable types and divisions in order to read multisyllabic words. The first 10 people to sign up for this PD will receive a copy of the Multisyllable Routine Cards Book by: 95% Group Inc. and EL IPDP Approved totaling 3 hours (Professional Development Stipend of 2 hours). For two of the three hours, participants will complete two face-to-face sessions and agree to have Lorie Lubman to visit their classrooms to see how newly learned practices are used for the last hour of the three hours.

Expectations for participation:

Participants must attend both the January 23 and the February 6 face-to-face PD sessions as well as embed MRC into 2 separate lessons in their classrooms:

  • Tier I Whole class instruction
  • Tier II Small group intervention instruction for students who struggle

Developing 2020 Vision (and Focus) in Mathematics in 2020

Participants of this workshop will learn about Ohio's Learning Standards and understand better focus, coherence, and rigor in math instruction. This session will help teachers know exactly what are the major versus minor topics for each grade K-8. CPI Training
Instructor: School Psychologists/Lindsay Ramsey
Description:

This training is offered through the The Crisis Prevention Institute and will deliver nonviolent crisis intervention training designed to teach best practices for managing difficult situations and disruptive behaviors. Staff will learn how to identify at-risk individuals and use nonverbal and verbal techniques to defuse hostile or belligerent behavior. They will also learn how to control their fear and anxiety in a crisis and avoid injury when a crisis becomes physical. Please fill out the following form if interested.
